We collect a variety of information when you book a session or place an order with A Thousand Words Photography By Anna-Marie or use any of our services. You may email at any time to know the following:

- data we have collected from you

- the basis on which we are holding it (e.g. because you gave us consent)

- how long we will hold it for

- where it is stored

- who it might be shared with

- your rights in relation to the data, and

1.1. What data do we ask you to provide to us, how is it being collected and why?

We collect a variety of information, including the following data:

Names, addresses and contact information that you have shared with us.

Names (and in some cases ages) of people present at a photo shoot. 

If you email us or send messages to us via social media, these are stored within our email system and social media accounts. These messages are stored for as long as practicable to allow us to provide a better service.

We use this data to: Provide goods or services

We collect this data using the lawful basis: Contract

The majority of the data is being collected directly from you when you fill out a contact form or contract, speak to us face-to-face, via the telephone, email or message.

In some cases, data may be given to us by a third party. This includes if someone is purchasing a gift voucher for you. They will usually give us your name and details to allow us to provide a service to you.


1.2. What data do we collect when you visit our website, and why?

We collect cookies. Cookies are small pieces of data that websites send to a users computer and are stored on the users web browser. They are designed to enable the website to remember information, such as what a user might have put in a shopping cart for example.

We share personal data with the following third parties:

JotForm - When filling out a contract. Data is transferred outside of the European Economic Area to United States under the protection of EU/US Privacy Shield.

Accountancy Firm - Data is not transferred outside of the European Economic Area.

SmugMug CMS - Data is transferred outside of the European Economic Area. to United States under the protection of EU/US Privacy Shield.

Yahoo Mail - Data is not transferred outside of the European Economic Area.

SendinBlue - Data is transferred outside of the European Economic Area to United States under the protection of EU/US Privacy Shield.

Print Labs - Data is not transferred outside of the European Economic Area.

Simply Book - Data is not transferred outside of the European Economic Area.

Social Networks - Your photographs may appear on my Facebook, Twitter & Instagram pages with your prior consent.

There are certain situations in which we may share access to your personal data without your explicit consent; for example, if required by law, to protect the life of an individual, or to comply with any valid legal process, government request, rule or regulation.


3. Why do we share data outside of the EU?

We may transfer personal data to a country outside of the European Economic Area (EEA), for example, if a third party we share data with has servers located outside of the EEA. If this is the case we will obtain your consent or otherwise ensure that the transfer is legal and your data is secure by following the EU’s guidelines. You can see above where we send data outside of the EEA and on what basis we do so.



4. How do we keep your personal data secure?

We keep your data secure:

- By carrying out regular penetration testing

- By keeping any paper records stored in a locked cabinet

In the unlikely event of a criminal breach of our security we will inform the relevant regulatory body within 72 hours and, if your personal data were involved in the breach, we shall also inform you.


5. How long is the data stored?

Most data we collect is stored indefinitely, or for up to 7 years. This is to allow us to provide a better service to you as a customer in the event that you contact us again in the future. We are legally obliged to store some data for a minimal amount of time, for example, sales, orders and payment records.


6. How will this affect you?

We collect, store and process data in such a way that should have no negative effect on you as an individual. We will never display any of your images on our website or social media without prior consent from you.


7. Changes to our privacy policy and control

We may change this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will let you know by changing the date on this policy, notifying customers of only significant changes. By continuing to access or use our services after those changes become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised privacy policy.
