Pet Portrait Sessions
I love to photograph your dogs on location - perhaps a nearby park, lake or meadow, or wherever your dog feels most comfortable. Indoor portraits are available and are a great way of capturing your dog next to a coloured background, but often it can be unnatural and sometimes unnerving for your pet with studio lights and flashes. Outdoor shots are fun and I am able to take photographs of your dogs natural behaviour in natural light which often produces the best photographs. In order to capture the spirit of your dog, I will take photographs of them doing their own thing, as well as shots of them looking at the camera. I may ask you to bring along a selection of toys or treats for a variety of shots.
Please don't think that your dog would be 'too naughty' or not 'obidient' enough for a photography session. Their natural behaviour is what makes them so special and it makes for wonderful photographs. I have grown up with dogs and am able to interact with them however naughty they may appear. I have a few tricks up my sleeve.
I will start the session by getting to know your faithful friend a little. A little bit of playtime and cuddles helps them to feel relaxed in my presence. If you have a nervous dog, I am happy to arrange a pre-meet session prior to the day of the photoshoot, at no extra cost.
After the introductions, we will start the photoshoot at the location we have arranged. This can be a mixture of locations if you wish. Pet Photography sessions usually last between 1 - 2 hours, however these sessions are unrushed. Animals can be unpredictable and I will stay until I feel I have a variety of shots. Please bear in mind that the first 15 minutes will be mostly talking and getting to know you and your pet. (Lots of cuddles with your pet are involved at this stage! I enjoy these as much as your dog does).
If your dog needs to remain on a lead throughout the photoshoot, that is fine. The safety of your pet is the most important thing. Do let me know if your dog is nervous or unsociable around other dogs and I will choose a place that is quiet for the photo shoot.
It is not only in the summer that I offer outdoor pet shoots - so please don't be put off by the cold, the rain or snow. Autumn/Winter colours along with Summer sunsets are often the most magical for photographs.
Cats are better photographed indoors as they are very unpredictable and mostly independent. This can be beside a coloured background and/or natural shots around your home. I can also take shots of them in your garden (If they sit still long enough!)
A cat photography session usually lasts between 1-2 hours. The first 15 minutes will involve getting to know you and your cat and lots of cuddles/playtime before we start the photo session. This helps them relax a little in my presence and we can get to know each other a little better. The session will be unrushed and as animals can be unpredictable, I will not leave until I have a variety of shots of your cat. I may also ask you to bring toys and treats so as I can take a variety of photographs.
I am able to photograph your Rabbits/Guinea Pigs indoors or outdoors, just like I would a Cat or a Dog. I can photograph them in their outdoor area or around the house if you have a house bunny, as well as bring along my coloured backgrounds to get some posed shots of them if possible. Because they are small, it is often nice to use a few props with these animals, so any toys, boxes, tunnels or blankets will make a great photograph with your small pet. These sessions will also last between 1-2 hours and are unrushed. I will not leave until I feel I have enough shots of your pet, along with plenty of cuddles!
Note: If at any point during a photo shoot I notice your pets are unhappy with the set up or are getting too hot/stressed, I will change the set up or continue another day. (This has never happened! - Animals always love all of the fuss and attention I give them during a photo shoot!) If you have any other questions, please ask. I will take so many photographs on a pet photography session that you will be spoilt for choice at your viewing session! Horse/Equine Photography is also available - Please contact me for details.
Puppy To Adult Sessions
If you have a new puppy and are looking to capture memories of their first year, I offer a Puppy to Adult Photo Shoot Package. The Puppy to Adult Package consists of 4 full photo shoots spaced out through your pets first year. (more if required) with a 1st Birthday shoot included (with props). The First Photo Shoot will be soon after you bring your new puppy home, or at whatever age you would like the shoot. The next shoot will take place 3 months after, then 6 months and then at 1 year. This is a lovely way to capture memories of your puppies first year. These shoots can take place outdoors or indoors. The choice is yours. These shoots are also available for cats and small animals.
Mans Best Friend
