Meet Your Photographer
Hello! I'm Anna-Marie Coster and I am your photographer.
When you book a photo shoot with me, I ask you to fill out a form all about you, so I wanted to share with you a little bit about me so as you can get to know me better.
How did you get in to photography?
I have always been quite creative, and wanted a career where I could use my creativity. Growing up, I would always ask for a camera for Christmas because I just loved to take photographs. I found it amazing how you could freeze time and keep that memory forever. As a child, I would take photographs of absolutely anything. I have pictures of puddles, trees, sand, you name it. I just wanted to take pictures. As I grew up, I took it more seriously and decided to look into education and courses, and I launched my business in 2013. I have also self-taught in a lot of aspects. You can never stop learning.
I also educate others on their photography journey, which I absolutely love to do.
What is your favourite thing to photograph?
I don't think it'll come as a surprise that animals are my very favourite thing to photograph, but I also love to photograph planes. I love an air show.
What has been your favourite photo session to date?
I love them all because they are all so different. I meet some wonderful people and animals and I love when a client comes back to me and I see their growing families. I have met people who I now consider friends from my photo sessions and have some very loyal followers who I am so grateful for.
If I had to choose, then one of my favourite sessions has to be Remy, a German Shepherd puppy. I just adore puppies and we were blessed with some magical winter light that evening. I remember being absolutely freezing when driving home from the session. My fingers and toes were numb and I honestly wondered if I had frost bite! But looking back through the photos from the photo shoot when I got home, I knew it was all worth it.
Where in the world would you most like to photograph?
There are many wonderful places in the world that I have not been but would love to visit. I would love to visit Lapland - the dogs, the snow and the Northern Lights would be a dream. I'd also love to photograph the polar bears in their wild tundra habitat in Canada, which would be amazing.
For landscape photography, and for somewhere a little warmer, I would love to visit California to photograph the amazing landmarks they have there. The Golden Gate bridge, Hollywood hills, Alcatraz Island, amongst many more.
Where in the world would you go back to, to photograph?
Many years ago, I visited Austria and fell in love with it. Back then, before digital cameras were popular, I took my pocket film camera and took the film to be developed at a local camera shop. Needless to say, those photographs didn't come out all that brilliantly, so I would love to go back with my DSLR so as I could photograph the mountains and print one large for my wall.
Do you have any pets?
Yes! Speaking of polar bears, I have my very own with Willow, my Pyrenean Mountain Dog, who often gets mistaken for a polar bear or big fluffy cloud. She is very quickly growing to be as heavy as me, and I love her with my heart.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
When I'm not behind the camera, you'll find me walking with my dog, at an animal park or concert, or at the beach. I also love to read.
Which of your photography awards are you most proud of?
All of them! I am so very lucky to gain recognition for my photographs that each and every award I receive, I am hugely proud of. If you can dream it, you can do it.
Why should clients choose you?
I have two favourite quotes when it comes to Photography.
'It is the photographer, not the camera, that is the instrument.'
I completely believe this. A camera is simply the tool that us photographers use to capture your memories. Just like a good chef who uses an oven to create his masterpiece. I may use up to date equipment but it is my imagination, creativity and vision that creates that photograph. I hope my clients see that I work very hard to create memories that they can cherish through beautiful and meaningful photographs.
'It is more important to click with people than to click the shutter.'
I want my clients to not just have a photo shoot, but an experience. Photography is a creative process, and it is all about connection. I want to know your story, your family, your personalities. I want to connect with you so as I understand exactly what you want from your photo shoot. I want to deliver memories that you will cherish. Together, we will tell your story...
